Installed price bands for every household size, what is usually left out of a quote, and how to check you are not being overcharged.
Installed solar in Nigeria falls into four price bands. Knowing which one you are in is the fastest way to tell whether a quote is fair.

What is usually left out of a quote
The single most common reason two quotes differ by a million naira is scope, not margin. Check that the price you are given includes all six of these, because between them they are 18 to 25 percent of the real cost:
- Mounting rails, clamps and roof penetrations, with the right waterproofing for your roof type
- DC and AC cabling at the correct gauge for the run length, plus conduit
- Surge protection and correctly rated breakers on both DC and AC sides
- Labour, scaffolding and site access
- Commissioning, configuration and the handover walkthrough
- VAT
Why prices moved in 2026
Two forces pulling in opposite directions. Installation costs rose sharply on foreign exchange pressure, with some market intelligence putting the increase as high as 208 percent from earlier baselines. At the same time global lithium battery costs have kept falling, which is why storage is a larger share of a system than it was and why lead-acid has effectively disappeared from serious residential specification.
How to check a quote quickly
Divide the total installed price by the usable battery capacity in kWh. In 2026 a fair residential figure lands roughly between ₦230,000 and ₦300,000 per usable kWh for a complete system including panels and labour. Substantially below that and something is being left out, or the equipment is not what it says it is.
